~ With York being located centrally within the UK, this allows me to travel easily to all areas of the country (and beyond) for my work, so wherever you’re planning your wedding please do get in touch as I’ll happily travel as far as it takes to get those important images for you ~
And despite the majority of my bookings taking place during the summer months, I shoot plenty of winter weddings too. So whenever you and your partner are thinking of tying the knot, be assured that even if the temperature’s colder and the light is lower I have the knowledge, experience and equipment to deal with it.
After all, being a wedding photographer isn’t just a full-time occupation for me, it’s something I’m genuinely passionate about and I’m constantly striving to create images that aren’t just beautiful, but really mean something to my clients too.
So if you like what you’ve seen here and would like to hear more then please don’t hesitate to call or drop me an email – go on you know you want to!
What style of photography do you shoot?
Some people call it a documentary style and I’ll go with that. Authentic and real. Relaxed and emotive. Zero fixed grins, negative cheese. People being people, being themselves. People are unique. Personalities are unique. Loud, quiet, wild, shy, adventurous, reserved. It’s all good food for the camera.
Are you a full-time professional photographer?
Yes. I have been a photographer in various guises for about 9 years. The majority of this time was spent as a sports and commercial photographer in New Zealand before I moved back to the UK a couple of years back and started concentrating on weddings. This is what I do, full-time, and I have a great time doing it!
Do you photograph the actual ceremony?
Yes. I’m very discreet and you will never know that I am there during the ceremony – I only use natural light (no flash) and keep my shots to an absolute minimum. I always touch base with the person presiding on the day to reassure them of how discreetly I shall be capturing your ceremony.
What areas do you cover?
I predominantly cover weddings in the North of the UK but if you live further afield, or wish me to cover your overseas destination wedding or elopement then please get in touch as I’m more than happy to do go travel greater distances if I’m needed to
How many photos do you take on the day?
I do not limit the number of photos that I take on the day. I just keep shooting. After your day you will typically have over 500+ fully edited shots to look back on
What do we do if it rains?
Always a big worry for brides and grooms – but it doesn’t have to be! You just have to embrace whatever the weather brings you. Some of my favourite shots have been taken in wet and windy conditions. I can tell you now from experience that my brides and grooms 100% do not care on the day. They are having such a great day that they don’t even notice. To get out in it you just need little breaks in it and we always have that.
Do we meet you before the wedding to talk about our plans?
Absolutely! If you are interested in booking an informal, no-obligations meet-up about your wedding plans at your choice of York/Leeds/Harrogate location then please just get in touch. If you are a bit further afield perhaps a video call (Skype/FaceTime) may work instead? After having a chat and showing you some of my imagery then it’s your call but I strongly believe in building a rapport with my couples prior to their wedding day’s and you can’t beat a good old fashioned face-to-face chat to achieve this.
Can I let other people see my wedding photos?
Absolutely – I know that you will love your wedding photos and I want you to share and show your guests! Your online gallery and slideshow are password protected but please feel free to pass on that link to whoever you wish.
Are you insured?
Absolutely. I carry full public liability insurance.
How long do you stay on the day?
From the beginning to the very end!
Do you charge for travel costs?
No. I don’t charge travel costs for any wedding throughout mainland UK. For destination weddings, I ask that my travel is paid for in full though.
Do you require a meal on the day?
No. I always take my own food on the day and will typically nip away for 20 minutes whilst you and your guests are tucking into your wedding meal main course. If you wish to provide me with a little something to eat of course I would never say no, but please don’t feel obliged to.
Do you take any formal or group photos?
Some weddings that I shoot ask for a few formal group shots to be taken and I totally get why brides and grooms ask for them – it’s not for them, but more for their parents and grandparents who expect them. So while I’m more than happy to oblige I recommend keeping these to the essential ones (bridal party, immediate families, groomsmen etc)
Who will take our photographs?
I will! I do not have anybody else working under my banner, however, should you require me to, I will bring along a second shooter to cover some of the action too (we would agree on this well before the wedding)
Help! I don’t like my photo being taken!
You are not alone! I understand that a lot of people do not like having their photo taken so I work in a very natural way. I never ask anybody to hold a smile for me or hold each other in a peculiar way. I’m all about the authentic moments between two people. Take a look through my wedding portfolio and you will see!
Can my friends and family purchase any prints?
Of course. There are a number of print options in the online gallery area at a fractional markup. Remember though, you will have the high-resolution images as well so you could pass the images onto them directly if you wish
How do we secure our date with you?
By paying the deposit which comes off your balance. I will also send you an online wedding photography contract which will need to be viewed and signed. The final balance is payable 1 month prior to your wedding date
