Thursday, December 12th, 2024 / “AND ALL THAT’S YET TO BE”

So, here we are again. It honestly feels like I posted last year’s roundup a couple of months ago. So I’m either losing my marbles or 2024 has kept me very, very busy.
What a mad old year. I nearly lost the sight in my left eye (true story). I shot weddings in Scotland, Ireland, Wales and even Japan (take me back). I made a book (more on that later). I provided mentorship to several other photographers. I shot a music video (actually I shot two. Sort of). I even got into hot yoga. Seriously though, retinal detachment is no joke folks. It scared the pants off me. But thanks to our wonderful NHS (special shoutout to my consultant, Mr Murray) my operation was successful and I was able to recover my sight without missing a wedding.
When the season kicked off I was literally all over the place. London was glorious (as per), The Cotswolds were stunning (even in the rain), Scotland was epic, Ireland was gorgeous, Japan was better than I imagined, and, most importantly, I got to meet more and more incredible human beings everywhere I went.
In 2024 I was fortunate to work with more people from outside the UK than ever before: Americans, Kiwis, Canadians, Aussies, French, Chinese, Belgians, Indonesians, Japanese, Italians, Polish, Portuguese – the list goes on and on. If you were a couple, family, guest, planner, videographer, content creator, florist, MUA, directory, stylist, vendor, venue or any other supplier – thank you. You all played a part in these images and I’m forever grateful. There’s something wonderful about the way a wedding brings people from all walks of life together and it needs to be acknowledged a hell of a lot more.
So, yeah. There were some highs, there were some lows. 2024 was a wild one that’s for sure. But we got through it, and I can’t wait to spend some quality downtime with my family over Christmas before I do (most of) it again. But, what about the photos? If you’ve got this far, then you’ve already seen a lot of my favourites. It’s been another 12 months full of the things that I love: light, colour, instances, abstractions, details, portraits and simple human connections. Documenting these things has brought me an incredible amount of joy and pride, and I honestly can’t thank every single one of my couples enough for placing their trust in me.
I’m very proud to say that for the first time ever, you can see the photos featured here (along with many more) the way they really should be viewed – in print. I always struggle to convey how much I love my job through words, so I took some time out during November to put together “And All That’s Yet to Be”. A collection of images that I took between April and October this year. An accumulation of portraits, places, scenes, details, moods and abstractions that continue to resonate with me long after they were taken.
If you’d like a copy email then simply let me know at: info@lukebellphotography.co.uk or hit me up on Instagram and I’ll happily send you one.
Thanks again, Legends. Here’s to 2025
